Letter to RBI Governor Dr. Raghuram G. Rajan

The RBI Governor caused quite a stir by joining the list of ‘learned people’ to extend their support to Aadhaar. In my view he did a great disservice to his office by aligning with the vested interests that are trying to hoodwink the nation. Why the govt.’s defence of Aadhaar is not tenable

Other reasons apart, the govt.’s defence of Aadhaar in the Supreme Court looks to be untenable on purely technical grounds. The privacy concerns are very genuine as well, but they may be easily dismissed at the altar of national security and the recently conjured up “national economic security”. Against this backdrop, it is crucial that the correct arguments are presented, so that the govt.’s absurd defence is exposed.
